- Play the DVD clip a second time with pauses.
- Let the clip play to the point where Steve looks for a torch and a CD.
- The children meanwhile name the colours of the stones in the river: “What colours are the stepping stones in the river?“ Invite individual children to come up to the screen, point to a stepping stone for the rest of the class to name the colours.
- Ask the children what Steve is doing: ”What is Steve doing?“(Use a facial expression of astonishment and curiosity). Continue the DVD.
- Pause again when the rainbow appears in the sky and ask: “What is it? Yes, it’s a rainbow.“ Ask the children to name the colours of the rainbow before Steve does: “What are the colours of the rainbow?“
- Then continue the DVD to check whether they named the colours correctly. Repeat after Steve.
- Encourage the children to sing with Steve and tell him which stepping stones to use in order to safely cross the river. Pause when appropriate and ask: “Which colour is next?” (The rainbow in the background can be used as a prompt).
- At the end of the clip say goodbye and wave to Steve ”Bye- bye”.
