TRANSPORT BINGO SPIN (in the classroom)
(Transport)
Subject: Humans and their world
Cross-curricular links: English language
Target language: bike, bus, car, helicopter, motorbike, plane, train
Language structures: What is it? – It’s a/an…
Time: 15 minutes
Materials: flashcards, coloured counters
- Arrange the transport flashcards in a circle and sit the children, in groups of 3 or 4 around them.
- Assign each group a colour and give them a number of coloured counters equal to the number of flashcards.
- There should be enough space in the middle of all the flashcards to use a spinner. Your spinner could be as simple as a bottle, where the bottle top indicates where the spinner has landed, or a more elaborate spinning arrow mounted on a colourful sheet or cardboard.
- The groups take it in turns to spin the spinner and name the vehicle it points to, marking every flashcard they name correctly with one of their coloured counters.
- The groups test their luck against each other to land on and successfully name all the flashcards, shouting bingo when they have finally placed a coloured counter on every flashcard.
