Target language: Numbers 1 – 12, spring, summer, autumn, winter
Language structures: What’s the time? - It’s (2) o’clock; It’s summer/winter/autumn/spring; It’s sunny/cloudy/windy/raining/snowing.
Time: 15 minutes
Materials: a set of paired cards
- Prepare sets of cards to play Pelmanism (commonly called Pairs). The pairs can show analogue and digital time, the seasons, types of weather or any previously taught vocabulary.
- The children sit around the table or in a circle on the floor.
- Mix up the cards and put them face down on the surface.
- The children take it in turns to turn over two cards and say what is shown on the card. If the two cards match, the children keep them, otherwise they are returned face down in the original places.
- The winner is whoever matches the most pairs.
