MR. WOLF (in the classroom)
(Time and Seasons of the Year)

Subject: Humans and their world
Cross-curricular links: English language, Physical education
Target language: Numbers 1 až 12
Language structures: What’s the time, please?/What time is it? - It’s (3) o’clock.
Time: 10 minutes

  • The teacher plays Mr Wolf and stands with his/her back to the class. Standing at the other end of the classroom to the children.
  • The children ask Mr Wolf: “What’s the time Mr. Wolf".
  • With your back still turned, the wolf says to them: “It’s (4) o’clock“, for example and the children take four steps towards the wolf.
  • Repeat the question and answer and the children take however many steps as the hour states.
  • The wolf turns its back to the children again, who call out: “What’s the time Mr. Wolf".
  • When the children reach close proximity to the wolf and again ask: “What’s the time Mr. Wolf?", the wolf answers: “Dinner Time.” The children run back to the start line and the wolf runs after them.
  • Whoever the wolf catches then becomes the wolf.
  • Alternatively the closest child can reach out and touch the wolf to start the chase.
