(Food)

• Put the cards face down in a pile on the table and gather the children around the table.
• Insert a few ’Jokers’ into the set of cards.
• Show the pupils the joker and tell them that if they pick up a joker they will have to do a forfeit (see classroom language below for examples). The teacher or the pupils set the forfeits or they could be drawn from a hat/bag.
• Select a child to pick up the first flashcard. The pupils should say what is on the card and a point is won for the correct answer. If they can’t name it they will have to do one of the forfeits.

Variation:

Give advanced children more difficult forfeits e.g. draw your mum and dad, mime flying a kite etc…

Note:

The activity can be adapted to practise any vocabulary.
